In observance of World Hearing Day on March 3rd, the MGOCSM and OCYM of St. Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church, Mysore, in collaboration with the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, had organized a free hearing screening camp to raise public awareness about caring for our ears and to avoid hearing loss. The camp was held on 26th of February 2023 at 10:30 AM in the Church Premises.
The theme for this year’s World Hearing Day is “Ear and hearing care for all!”, which emphasizes the importance of access to ear and hearing care for everyone, regardless of their age, gender, or location.
The free screening camp was aimed at facilitating everyone in caring for their hearing needs, and the organizers arranged a Q and A session with experts before encouraging all individuals to take advantage of this opportunity to get their hearing checked. The screening camp was open to all, and no prior registration was required.
Commenting on the initiative, Rev. Fr. Aneesh KO, the Vicar of St. Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church, Mysore, said, “We are happy to organize this free hearing screening camp to mark World Hearing Day. We hope that this initiative will encourage everyone to take their hearing health seriously and seek timely interventions to avoid hearing loss.”
Mr. P Rajan, Vice President of OCYM Mysuru in his address mentioned that initiatives such as the free hearing screening camp are crucial in promoting ear and hearing care for all. It is essential to take care of our hearing health. Let us all pledge to make ear and hearing care a priority in our lives. He also thanked the yeoman service offered by the experts from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing in making the camp a grand success. He also thanked Dr. Ajish K Abraham, Dean (Infrastructure), All India Institute of Speech and Hearing for coordinating the Camp.
