AHOOSO ’21- A Christmas season together again

Once the pandemic rules were eased, the youth -MGOCSM, OCYM of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Begur organised a Christmas event-Ahooso’21, beginning 15 th of November’21. The term Ahooso meaning brotherhood or fellowship was coined by Vicar Fr. Jacob Thomas. It consisted of a series of events every week concluding with the socials program on the 18th of December 2021.The core team consisted of 14 members of the MGOCSM led by our Vicar, Youth Secretary Mr.Abu Varghese and Mr.Schenit Paul who was the Convenor for the same. The team was supported by all the senior youth members, church managing committee and church members.

The event launch was on 15 November 2021 and was put to a start with a few fun teasers. The three events conducted as a part of Ahooso 2021 were – ‘Bake perfect ‘-cake baking competition, ‘Christmas greetings’ -cardmaking competition, and ‘Treasure Hunt.-that made all teams go deep in the Bible and learn more about it. Church received a wonderful response to the event, kids to grandparents participating with true spirit and unseen enthusiasm. Begur Church is known for its huge strength of youth members. Every member irrespective of their age displays a young heart and is an active youth of our church. This led to the huge success of the event.

The pandemic was a pause button that reminded us of all the precious memories we had made together. Ahooso 2021 created an opportunity to rejuvenate the togetherness and unity which was
seen in all the happy faces of Church members after the events .
