St Mary’s Orthodox Church, Begur joyfully celebrated the Feast of Assumption of St. Mary and the 15th Parish Feast of the Church, from 6th to 15th August 2023. The celebrations started with flag hoisting on 6th August by the Vicar Rev. Fr. Saji Daniel. A felicitation meeting was also held on the same day to welcome the families who became members of the church during the past one year. The Perunnal services and convention from 12th to 15th August was led by ‘Sneha Sandesam” the travelling Gospel team of Malankara Orthodox Church based at St. Paul’s Mission Centre, Mavelikkara, headed by Very Rev. K. K. Geevarghese Ramban and accompanied by Rev. Fr. John Sleeba , Rev.Fr. Lukose Alexander and their team . It was indeed a blessed week of Devotional songs, Biblical classes and motivating Gospel services which touched the hearts of whole congregation. A special prayer was also held for youth and families. As in previous years, large number of families participated in the Padayatra from St. Ignatius Church, Begur to our church on 14th afternoon. The procession in the evening with lighted candles was attended by the whole Parish. Many non-member families and faithful from other parishes also actively participated in all the programs. The Tri-mass on 15th marked the end of the celebrations. Vicar Rev. Fr. Saji Daniel asked families to get closer to the Word of God by writing the Book ‘Acts of Apostles’ during the 15days of Lent.10 families completed it and they were honoured with gifts by Achen. He also ensured that all the programs were very successful and invoked the Blessings of our Lord through the intercession of Mother Mary.
