RAS-AL-KAIMAH UNIT
St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Ras-Al-Kaimah led by its parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Iype P. Alex and its OCYM & MGOCM secretary Mr. Renju Jose, conducted various events at the parish level. Keeping worship, study and service as the key objectives, meetings were held every 1 and 3 Friday after Holy Qurbana. The contributions of the youth to the events hosted by the parish are tremendous. The youth has been instrumental in coordinating programs such as Christmas Carol, Harvest Festival, etc. In the zonal level quiz competition held at the St. George Orthodox Church, the unit secured the 1st place.
There was a cricket tournament held by the Dubai unit in which the team was able to reach the semi-finals. The efforts of all the youth members need to be acknowledged for taking part in this tournament.
FUJAIRAH UNIT
St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Fujairah led by its parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Abraham Thomas and its OCYM & MGOCM secretary Mr. Lijomon George, conducted various events at the parish level. Poetry Writing Competition was conducted in remembrance of Sabha Kavi C. P. Chandi. On the world Environment Day, they celebrated by cleaning up drive in church and by planting new trees. India’s 70th Independence Day was also celebrated. The youth participated in a Pilgrimage organized to St. Dionysius Church, Al Ain, UAE. Blood Donation Camp was also conducted. The annual cultural youth fest of the unit was conducted. Onam Celebrations were conducted in the church and youth organized Onam sadhya and games. OCYM Conference at Peerumede Engineering college was attended by the unit representatives. A Seminar was organized in remembrance of Parumala Thirumeni, H.G. Mathews Mar Severios Thirumeni led the seminar. Book Fair was arranged in association with DC Books for the parish crowd. For the harvest fest, youth as usual put up their tattukada. At the annual Carol Competition organized in Zonal level at Fujairah St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, the unit got 2nd prize. They unit took part in the cricket tournament conducted by Dubai Youth League. At the Musical competition organized by Dubai Youth League, the unit won 1st price, and also won 2nd price for the quiz competition organized by Sharjah St. Gregorios Orthodox Church. Other active initiatives of the youth unit are maintaining the Library. The Prayer Ministry conducts prayer meetings every Saturdays. Running a bookstall for Orthodox prayer books, cd’s. Publishing Darpanam the annual magazine of unit and also taking part in the Christmas carols. The Youth conducted food fest on pethrutha day. A Lenten retreat was conducted under the leadership of youth, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Thomas was the main speaker. A cartoon exhibition was conducted featuring the works of great cartoonist Rev. Fr. Thomas Mukalil, our Diocese Metropolitan H. G. Dr. Abraham Mar Seraphim inaugurated the exhibition.
