Perunal Report – St. George Orthodox Syrian Church, Jeedimetla (Hyd Region)

The parishioners of St George Orthodox Syrian Church, Jeedimetla, Hyderabad along with the parishioners from other neighbouring Orthodox Syrian churches witnessed a blessed and joyous feast of their patron on 23rd and 24th April 2022. This feast held a special place in everyone’s heart as this was the first Perunal celebration after two years of the global pandemic Covid-19.

The 22nd Annual feast of St George Orthodox Church began with the customary flag hoisting (Kodiyettu) on 17th of April 2022 soon after the Easter Service which was led by the Vicar Rev. Fr. Joshua Abraham and the Asst. Vicar Rev. Fr. Simon T. Joy. The parish was blessed to have Rev. Fr. Vinod George, the metropolitan designate, amongst their midst to lead them through this Saint’s feast. Rev. Fr. Vinod George delivered a spiritually enriching message to the believers, after the evening prayer on 23rd April which then was followed by the ritualistic rasa led by Rev. Fr. Iype P. Alex.

Rev. Fr. Vinod George was the chief celebrant of the Holy Moonninmel Qurbana, held on 24th April, along with Rev. Fr. Thomas Varghese and Rev. Fr. Simon T. Joy. Holy Qurbana was attended by devotees from, within and outside Malankara Orthodox Sabha, across Hyderabad region. The final ceremonial pradhikshanam was held in the end, marking the end of yet another blessed feast.
